"EACH YEAR MORE THAN 500 BILLION DISPOSABLE PLASTIC BOTTLES AND CUPS END UP IN OUR SOIL, RIVERS, LAKES AND OCEANS".

Our objective at PureH2O, Ltd.® is to bring pure, safe and affordable drinking water to every home in The Bahamas, while protecting our natural environment through education and activism. We can work together to achieve this objective by placing high quality, affordable RO water purification systems in every home. But, this is not enough. We must also reduce the volume of plastic bottle waste that is seriously harming our natural environment in the islands.

Please consider the following facts:

1. PLASTIC BOTTLED WATER IS
EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE

A large percentage of the plastic bottled water sold in The Bahamas is imported. Plastic bottled water costs up to 50 times more per gallon than RO purified tap water and well water.

2. PLASTIC BOTTLED WATER
CONTRIBUTES TO POVERTY

There are many locations in the Caribbean Islands where people still do not have access to pure drinking water. Contaminated water is especially hazardous for children and the elderly. When there is no access to clean, safe, affordable, drinking water, people living in extreme poverty are forced to drink and use contaminated water. The poor cannot afford expensive bottled water. It is the responsibility of the public and private sectors working together to provide clean, safe water to those in need. PureH2O, Ltd.® is highly committed to this humanitarian objective.

3. PLASTIC BOTTLED WATER IS
BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH

Testing by the global Environmental Working Group found that "10 popular brands of plastic bottled water purchased from grocery stores contained 38 chemical pollutants altogether with an average of 8 contaminants in each brand". Major bottled water brands were contaminated with toxic chemicals known to cause cancer and reproductive problems, heavy metals, arsenic, radioactive isotopes, fertilizer residue including nitrate and ammonia, among others. Does this sound like the "Natural Spring Water" and "Purified Drinking Water" that is advertised on many plastic bottled water labels? Even scarier most bottled water is not tested for the dangerous e.coli bacteria. Bottled water companies are only required to periodically test the pre and post-filtration product water. Harmful biological contaminants can potentially enter the post- filtration water production stream before being detected, if at all.

4. PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES
USE A LOT OF OIL

Approximately 20 million barrels of oil are used to produce plastic water bottles per year in the U.S. alone. This is enough oil to fuel over 1 million cars for a year. When you take into account the oil used to get the bottled water to market, the total jumps to almost 55 million barrels per year to produce and deliver plastic water bottles.

5. PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES PRODUCE MILLIONS OF TONS OF HAZARDOUS WASTE
Plastic water bottles take anywhere from 450-1,000 years to bio-degrade---if ever. Our landfills in the islands are overwhelmed with tons of bottles and other plastic garbage. Those who live in The Bahamas have certainly experienced the thick, putrid smoke that fills the air when large landfills catch fire and burn for days. When plastic water bottles incinerate they release toxic byproducts such as chlorine gas and ash laden with heavy metals into the atmosphere. The air from incinerated plastic water bottles and other plastic garbage is extremely hazardous to your health.

6. PLASTIC GARBAGE IS KILLING THE OCEAN AND ITS INHABITANTS
Ever heard of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch? It's a patch of trash in the Pacific Ocean that is about 100 feet deep and covers an area 2 times the size of Texas. The patch is made up mostly of plastics of various types. Plastic pollutes the ocean and destroys ocean life. Much of the plastic waste ends up in the guts of fish, animals and birds or washes up on our beaches and shorelines. Guess what happens to the birds and animals that eat the plastic? They die. It has been estimated that over 1 million sea birds and 100,000 marine mammals and sea turtles are killed each year by ingestion of plastic garbage.

PLEASE THINK ABOUT THESE FACTS BEFORE YOU PURCHASE THE NEXT DISPOSABLE PLASTIC BOTTLE OF WATER.

THE SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION TO THIS SERIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL AND HEALTH HAZARD IS CLEAN, SAFE DRINKING WATER FROM YOUR TAP OR WELL USING A HOME RO WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEM. You can completely eliminate plastic bottle waste in your home by filling reusable bottles with RO water from your tap.
